"Flags-In" Memorial Day Tradition at Arlington National Cemetry - 2023
Members of the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (the "Old Guard") placed American flags on tombstones of fallen service members at Arlington National Cemetery, preceding Memorial Day weekend. The annual tradition, referred to as "Flags-In", sees north of 1,000 Old Guard members place flags in front of more than 228,000 headstones. Flags are placed a boot's length away from each headstone.
